Roanoke Star Skills Training
The skills training sessions will be on Tuesdays 5:30 - 6:30PM at Vinyard II Field 3 and Thursdays 7:00 - 8:00PM at Vinyard II Field 3. The skills training sessions will be open to U11 - U14 boys and girls.
EDGE STAR Training
With proper training, soccer players can improve some aspect of their movement. In order to increase speed and agility, one must first learn and master proper movement mechanics. Speed training includes form running exercises and drills for acceleration. Agility mechanics include proper positioning of the center of gravity, understanding your base of support, and learning how to use proper footwork for quick and efficient changes of direction. Once the athlete has developed proper mechanics they will progress through the EDGE STAR program. Along with increasing speed and agility, workouts are also designed to decrease the chance of season ending injuries from occurring.
Core Strength, Rotational Power and Stability
The core is located at the center of the body and is responsible for balance, stability, and the transition of power from the legs and hips to the upper extremities. Many athletes, even those at the highest levels, lack sufficient strength, stability and rotational power in the core. We place great emphasis on advanced training for the abdominals and obliques, low and mid back stabilizers, and the muscles of the hips and groin. We utilize a multitude of exercises, equipment, and training sequences to completely training the core.
