Roanoke Star Elite program is the elite program for youth soccer players in the Southwest Virginia area. Highlights of the program include:
  • Elite teams represent the most competitive teams within the Roanoke Star structure. These teams are comprised of the strongest and most dedicated players from all over the Southwest Virginia area. Players selected for the Elite team have to tryout each year.
  • Elite teams aged U13-U19 at Roanoke Star for the 2014-2015 seasons will typically consist of no more than 16 players on their roster. At the U11 and U12 age groups we anticipate 10-12 players on a team. We do allow for some variation, although these numbers are good guidelines.
  • Players develop at different rates and some players will move from Premier to Elite and vice versa depending on what is best for their development. For instance, a player returning from injury or a player who is not receiving a lot of playing time would be strongly considered as a candidate to play on the Premier team with the intent of regaining fitness levels or confidence.
  • Premier players who are showing high commitment and performance levels will be encouraged to train and play with the Elite teams at various times throughout the season.
  • Elite teams play in the Club Champions League (CCL). No other league comes close to matching the competition levels of the CCL. It is the strongest league in Virginia! Top quality clubs such as SOCA, Beach FC, FC Richmond, PWSI, Annadale, FC Frederick, Loudon, SYS, FASA participate with their strongest teams in the CCL.
  • Roanoke Star participates in Atlantic Soccer League (ASL)! The aim of the league is to provide top level clubs in the East Coast region a high quality league (boys & girls) in a showcase format that has significant games, limits expenses, and provides a platform for collegiate recruiting. In addition, ASL will create a scouting program to identify the top players and will promote those players through the league website and the regional and national media.
  • The ASL will allow us to reduce travel to tournaments and maximize college exposure for our players as it provides a ready-made, high level tournament format.
  • Roanoke Star coaching staff has more licensed coaches than any other club in Southwest Virginia, including a number of coaches who hold the highest licensing available in the country.
  • There is true consistency in coaching and the club follows a developmental program that is guided by the USSF.
  • Roanoke Star has a tremendous history of placing players in college soccer programs. Each year a large percentage of our Elite players as well as players from our Premier program are recruited by college coaches.
  • Elite teams will practice a minimum of 2 times per week with some teams practicing 3 times per week.
  • Our fees for the Elite program are extremely competitive. We are the lowest costing CCL club and our fees are actually less than some other area clubs.
  • Roanoke Star has a number of college coaches with a winning tradition who coach for the program. We are able to keep costs lower as the coaches are dedicated to Roanoke Star and have a consistent history of helping develop players within Roanoke Star.
  • Our practice sessions are always meaningful and consist of planned, age appropriate games and activities.
  • Players from Roanoke Star consistently dominate the local high school soccer scene. Our advanced training is a huge factor in this.
  • Players at Roanoke Star are able to benefit from many additional training opportunities. These include technical development training, goalkeeper training, strength and conditioning training, functional positional training and individual training.
  • Players are encouraged to communicate with college coaches. Roanoke Star will provide an extensive college recruitment guide to every player in the U15-U18 age group. Players will also have their own college recruitment advisor who will meet with the players at their request to help guide them through the college recruiting process.
  • Danny Beamer will be the college recruitment advisor. Danny will provide unbiased, realistic and comprehensive advice to players. Coach Danny is a current NSCAA National Staff coach who teaches coaching courses throughout the USA. Danny has extensive college coach contacts as well as numerous contacts in the professional game in Europe.
  • Players within the CCL structure are constantly scouted at league games by other soccer professionals. Currently the coaching staff within the CCL includes a number of current professional players and coaching staff, National team scouts, numerous ODP coaches, USSF Academy scouts, numerous college coaches and National staff instructors. There is no better place to play if you desire to play at a higher level. You never know who is watching!
  • All players at Roanoke Star will have the opportunity to go on a European trip. Every year our U14 Girls teams and U15 Boys teams travel to Europe and participate in the biggest youth soccer tournament in the world, the Gothia Cup. Players fundraise for the trip and many players have managed to offset the total cost of the trip through fundraising efforts.
  • Elite level players at Roanoke Star have the opportunity to train abroad with professional clubs. In each of the past 4 years, players from Roanoke Star have trained in Germany or Sweden with professional clubs. Parker Walsh a 2010 Roanoke Star graduate is currently playing with German 2nd division club Karlsruhe.
