The Roanoke Star U14, U15, U16 and U17 Girls ASL Teams participated in the Triangle Friendlies over the weekend of January 20th, 21st and 22nd. Unfortunately, due to severe weather in North Carolina, Triangle Futbol Club canceled all games on Sunday therefore cutting the tournament short. However, the teams were still able to get a couple of games in, even though the conditions on Saturday were slightly muddy!

There were some good, positive performances most notably from our U14 and U15 girls. The U14 girls played two games on Saturday, both ending in 0-0 ties against South Jersey Vipers and FC Fredricksburg. Coach Alan Crowder described the first game as "open and entertaining" while going on to explain the second game was played in such muddy conditions that it was difficult to string any passes together! The U15 girls experienced similar conditions during their two games, a 1-1 tie with New Jersey United and a 0-1 loss vs Charlotte United. Coach Mark Meyer praised the U15 girls performances stating they had chances to win both games and insisted the girls had a blast in the muddy conditions!

The girls now have a break until February before training will start up to prepare for the Jefferson Cup ASL event in March.
